751-900

So excited for Sydney's Vivid Festival. 23 days of lights, music and ideas on one of the worlds most beautiful harbours [the largest light festival in the world with over 2.5 million visitors expected in 2018 and to inject over $140 million into the local economy!]

Vivid Sydney 2018

Check out the epic adventure so far;

751/2018: Create your own masterpiece this Vivid season.

This is what I love about Vivid, being able to experience, learn, create and express new things!

752/2018: B is for...Barangaroo

753/2018: Spiralling into darkness

754/2018: Boy I love Vivid!

755/2018: I didn't take my tripod tonight but by being a little creative [and holding your breath] cool images like this can still be created. Sydney's National Maritime Museum in Cockle Bay and the Ray of Light form The Star Casino in the background.

756/2018: The Sofitel in Darling Harbour is looking pretty spectacular this year [way more impressive than the Novotel]. And when you don't have a tripod why not capture it this way. Mistake or on purpose?

761-766/2018: Painting in the water

767-769/2018: My favourite bridge standing and reflecting tall. So many things for Izzy to smell walking across here today [some probably not good]. @novafm

770-772/2018: I love nature [if you haven't figured that out already] and this weekend there has been some beautiful autumn, pastelly [probably not even a word. Sorry Mal] colours. So cool watching nature change as throughout the year. And how tough nature is and the seasons change!

773-775/2018:

We have spent a lot of our spare weekends on Sydney harbour exploring all it's different corners, bays and beaches.

After a cold night on the boat it was time to leave the boat on the cradle and jump in the car and take an adventure by land. This time down the south coast towards Wollongong. There are some amazing roads to drive down here with some fun windy corners [Izzy wasn't the biggest fan but meant I got some warm cuddles, and scratches]. From the Royal National Park to Wollongong, then up to Mount Kiera, then down to Albion Park and through the Macquarie Pass to Bowral.

A great mix of land and sea!

776/2018:

777/2018: A smoking start to Tuesday morning. So smoking that the smoke levels in Sydney were higher than Beijing! [What the!]

778-779/2018:

The things you find when you take a few minutes to go for a lunchtime walk. These feral, dirty birds cleaning themselves up and some rain [maybe] clouds slowly creeping in.

780-788/2018:

Love wandering the streets of Sydney during the famous Vivid Festival.

Some stock standard shots and some creative ones too. Definitely not fine art. But what is the definition of fine art and who wants fine art anyway. Get creative everyone. Love your own style.

790/2018: My daily commute has got me all excited. Biking to work is such a brilliant way to start the day especially when the sun peaks above the horizon creating large rays like this!

791-794/2018: When you leave work early and rush to make it to the airport in time, getting through security only to find your flight is delayed but 90min is the most annoyingest thing. It does mean you get to take cool sunset pics like these and get to have a beer at 3pm.

#adelaidebound

795/2018: Which drink to drink? which game to play?

796-800/2018:

Such a cool weekend hanging out with this guy and his parents. Meet Connor, he is almost 3 months old and has the best smile! Full of energy and giggles and constantly checking out the world around him [when he is awake]. Stoked to have met you wee man. looking forward to watching you grow up! Look after mum and dad and have fun playing with Hairy Maclary!!

801/2018: Brest feeding. Such a beautiful yet probably frustrating, enjoyable, painful and miraculous all at the same time. Some mums need to feed in the privacy of their own home others are happy to feed anywhere anytime with any view. This is one of those views. After a long 7km walk Conner let Bridget know it was lunch time. A pretty sweet view for lunch!

802/2018:

One of the best things about adventures to Adelaide and hanging out with Bridget and Chris is lazy evenings on the couch watching Graham Norton and drinking Delicious wine. I gave this bottle to then a few years ago now, a rich cherry Pinot Noir from one of our favourite wineries in Central Otago, NZ, so super stoked they have cellared it well and brought it out to share with me on the fine Friday night.

#newzealandmade

803-804/2018: Sneaky lunchtime snaps following a wet home visit to Hunters Hill. These beauties are loving all the rain at the moment. Anyone know what these are called?

805-806/2018:

I've driven and walked over this bridge thousands of times but never walked under it.

the water is so still and green. I wonder who lives in this riverside villa?

807-808/2018:

Rushing home in horrible weather to make it to the Lyric theatre on time.

We saw this Mormans show in New York six years ago and it was just as impressive this time. Ridiculously vibrant and so cleaver and powerful!

809-812/2018:

After a foggy start to the morning, it was so good being back on the bike to work. From not being able to see the harbour from the foreshore before 7AM it was a beautiful sunrise, especially as the sun rose up through the fog behind the hidden bridge and finally found the bridge around 7:30AM. The cool things you see when biking to work. #dailycommute

813-814/2018: From this mornings foggy, murky start to this afternoons hazy sunset [plus what a weird spot for a chair. Good view though].

815/2018: Sydney's purple coat hanger.

I love being able to create images like this. I've heard and read some pretty negative things about Vivid this year [the crowds, the noise, the disorganisation, the transport] but put all of that aside and enjoy the beauty of this festival that allows people to create and express them selves artistically is such a cool, effective way. [ISO 100, 35mm, f/9, 30sec]

819-819/2018: Getting creative with different exposures and camera positions. [Vivid isn't just about the harbour bridge and the opera house]. Think outside the camera this Vivid season.

820/2018:

I don't often go on a rant [I might ramble sometimes] but finding this mess in the local park this morning was appalling. Likely put there by a local man that we know as "Creepy guy". Others know his as Bird man or scary man as he attracts the feed the seagulls and argues anyone walking by to mistakenly makes eye contact with him. How can we stop this @cityofsydney @pyrmontcommunitycentre This is bad for the environment, our dogs, our children and all those out there who cant afford a meal themselves. How can we work together to get "Creepy Guy" off the streets?

821-825/2018: So cool to check out these beauties at the Porsche Sydney South Open day. From the 356 (Maroon) right through to the 911 (Black)

826-831/2018: Over the space of about 20 minutes as the sun is going down I am always amazed at how the sky can change so quickly. #cloudsforciara

832/2018: Not that I am creeping on the locals on the ground floor [hopefully they have the blinds pulled] but the reflection of tonights colourful clouds is pretty cool

832-834/2018: Just a couple more of tonights sunset adding in my obsession with the ANZAC bridge. I think it is it's west location and the lines of the guide ropes that just make this bridge so photographable!

835/2018: take picture #831 and reflect it in a puddle from this morning's rain...

836/2018: We took off on a fun adventure around the foreshore of Vaucluse from Rose Bay to Neilson Park. Lots of rain and so much greenery and Izzy had a ball!!! Love the contrast of the ash covered tree trunk and it's leaves and the whiteness on the spine of the large green leaves. Nature at its finest. #happyplace. [Jesus, just hanging out, is a little full on for a cemetery of a high school though].

839/2018:

It's pouring with rain, Izzy is running like a crazy puppy and we are getting wetter and wetter. Then we find a little cave to take shelter in!

Sometimes we put a hold on our adventures becuase something is preventing us from having the best adventure. For us today that was the rain, we thought "ehhh, its raining, let's just stay at home and stay warm and dry" but then I thought "Feck it". And so glad I did. We had the best adventure on this trial around this beautiful part of Sydney Harbour. Can't believe we have explored this area before.

840/2018:

The lines and the circles of our shelter are fascinating. I wonder how long this cave has been here and how many other victims of the elements have taken shelter here.

Such a beautiful part of nature.

The way this cave has fought this the elements itself and challenged the wind, the rain and the sunshine always makes me think about the beauty of this world and how did we get here and where are we going and how will we get here. Will this cave be still here in another 5000 or so years?

841/2018:

Great to see this plane back. After a shocking tragedy at new years where multiple lives were lost this company is back flying again around Sydney harbour and up to Ku-ring-ai National Park. If you are feeling rich what a spectacular way to see and explore Sydney in all its natural beauty.

#sydneyseaplanes

842/2018: The rain and clouds made for pretty cool lighting for this lookout near Milk Beach. What do you prefer? Nature? Urban? or both?

855/2018:

851-857/2018:

858-860/2018: It's not quote Vivid but the lights are just as cool [and the crowds are way more tolerable, like zero!]. If you look closely in the yellow and purple reflection of "860" and you will see where these pictures are...
